The recent drop in temperature marks the beginning of a new season of opportunities for winter athletes to achieve their goals and improve their abilities. This year, the Mounds View nordic skiing team is ready for a fresh start and hopes to enhance their technique and racing skills. The team is excited to be working with their new head coach Julie Garretson.

On January 25th, 2016, plans to build the Dakota Access Pipeline were announced, but it wasn’t until late July that conflict between the Standing Rock Tribe and the Energy Transfer Crude Oil Company (ETCO), the corporation building the pipeline, began. Since then, thousands of protesters at Standing Rock and millions more around the world have come together to rally against an unjust construction plan.

Hacksaw Ridge tells a tale of humanity

Hacksaw Ridge is a new historical movie that tells the story of the amount of love that one man, Desmond Doss, had for others and how that led him to save many lives, including the life of a man from the opposing side of the war. While it’s rated R for some of its slightly gory scenes and battle sequences, the movie offers humor, heartwarming scenes, and a clear depiction of the brutalities of war.

Following their regional tournament win in Fargo, North Dakota this past June, the Mounds View Drone Club moved on to compete at the national tournament. After the two day competition in Manse, Indiana, the team emerged victorious, beating the 11 other teams from around the country and taking first place.

This fall, the students and directors of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying are working hard not only on stage, but also behind the scenes of the musical, to be ready for show week in early November.

Designing the Design Space

Located in the ILC and what used to be room 220 DE and F, the newly opened design space is a space for innovation and creativity. Created by the school to extend the STEM philosophy, the new design space comes with state of the art 3-D printers and laser engravers that are usable free of charge.
